Is Renzo Piano America's Default Architect?" In the past year, the Italian architect has received expansion commissions from the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Last year, he completed the graceful Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas , and his firm, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, is now working on the Morgan Library expansion in New York City; the High Museum Expansion in Atlanta; the Chicago Art Institute north wing addition; the California Academy of Sciences expansion in San Francisco; and the expansion of Harvard’s Fogg Art Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Everything's coming up Renzo and Architectural Record wonders why. I think he does great work - thoughtful and sensitive. His museums and galleries really create a backdrop that truly accommodates the art and enhances the viewing experience. These aren't Rock 'N' Roll skyline signatures - they don't need to be.
